What should I do or not do before my appointment?BROWS The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive, and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure. What is the aftercare for brows? After your appointment: Take one aftercare pad out of the gold sachet. Firmly blot each brow then discard. Repeat every 30 minutes for the first two hours. Aftercare steps: (Wait 6 hours after treatment to start) Step 1: Spray cleanser onto gauze pad, gently dab cleanse each brow. Repeat twice per day for the first four days. Step 2: Using clean fingers, apply a light layer of aftercare ointment by gently dabbing onto the brows (no rubbing). Do not over saturate with ointment, this will lead to slow healing and poor retention. Repeat 1-2 times per day for two weeks or until it runs out. For the first 7-10 days: ⁃ No sun (or tanning beds) ⁃ No picking or scratching at any scabs ⁃ No hot, sweaty exercise until all scabs have naturally fallen off (hot yoga, spin class, etc.) ⁃ Do not dye/tint your eyebrows ⁃ No hot tubs, saunas, pools, or lakes ⁃ No long, hot showers. Try to keep showers short and cool, as sweating and steam can draw the pigment out. ⁃ Do not put your face directly into the shower stream. Do your best to keep the brows dry during the shower, have a clean & dry towel nearby to pat them dry as needed. ⁃ Keep skin care products (except aftercare products) away from the brows (about a 1 inch distance) ⁃ NO makeup on the brows (wipe with a wet cotton bud immediately if any makeup touches the brows) ⁃ Try to sleep on your back (the tails can be rubbed off prematurely) For the first two weeks: ⁃ No sun (or tanning beds) ⁃ No glycolic acid, AHAs, retinols or Retin-A in the brow/forehead area ⁃ No chemical peels, dermabrasion, laser treatments, or microneedling ⁃ No Botox For as long as you have permanent makeup: ⁃ If you will be exposing your brows to the sun, wear at hat whenever possible and apply at least SPF 50 beforehand (sun exposure WILL make the brows fade faster and can change the color) ⁃ NO tanning beds

Does it hurt? For most people, no. Numbing cream is applied throughout the process to minimize any discomfort, but everyone reacts differently to the numbing cream. I will check with you before starting and periodically during the process to make sure you are not experiencing any discomfort. I will also encourage you to let me know if you experience any pain or discomfort so that I can take steps to solve that issue. The goal is for this process to be completely painless, and most of the time that is achieved. However, in some cases, clients can be resistant to the numbing cream. As a general rule, if you numb well when you see the dentist, then you will be just fine.

Do results vary?Yes - color retention and overall results are different for each individual. Factors such as sun exposure, skin type, aftercare, lifestyle, and skin tone determine how your brows heal. OILY SKIN - Tends to 'push out' the ink quicker, and may need more frequent touch ups. For microblading, lines may heal more “blurry” or for cases of extremely oily skin, microblading may blur out completely . Ombre brows are recommended for oily skin as they heal nicer and are a better long term option. MATURE SKIN - Is very fine, delicate and thin. Results are sometimes unpredictable. Ombre brows are recommended for mature skin as this technique causes less trauma to the skin, has more predictable results, and is easier for the skin to heal. On mature skin often a very light, very warm color will be used, as the brows tend to heal a little bit cooler and darker. The final results are not guaranteed to replace makeup- you may still need to use a pencil or powder to create your own unique, desired look. The ultimate goal is to have natural looking, balanced brows.

Is it a tattoo? In the traditional sense of a “tattoo”, no, permanent makeup (PMU) is not a tattoo. It has the same concept of placing pigment in the skin, but there are many differences. PMU does not go nearly as deep as a tattoo. The pigment used is formulated specifically for PMU, so it will fade true to color.

Is there a difference between the look of fresh brows and healed brows?Yes! Microblading- Hairstrokes appear crisp and exaggerated at first, and your brows will be dark for a few days after each treatment. As the brows heal, the lines will slightly expand and are lighter, slightly fuzzy, and softer looking. As the color settles into the skin it tends to heal a bit cooler than when first applied. Ombre brows- Brows appear dark and bold for the first few days. After healing the brows are about 30-40% lighter and the edges/fronts are softer. Ombre brows mimic the look of powdery brow makeup once healed.

Why do I need two sessions?1st Appointment - "FOUNDATION SESSION” - Brow mapping and collaborating together on the perfect shape according to your facial features, desired thickness and desired ‘look'. Brows are quite dark for the first week and soften as they heal. Everyone’s skin is different, some people will retain a lot of color, others will heal very light or patchy. This appointment is not meant to heal perfectly. This appointment takes approx. 2- 2.5 hours total. 2nd Appointment - “PERFECTING SESSION"- required 4-8 weeks later - to touch up any light spots, build additional texture and saturation, or tweak and perfect the shape. This session usually takes approx 1-1.5 hours. Rarely, some clients may need more than two sessions to achieve their desired brow, due to stubborn skin, improper aftercare, scars, covering old work, etc.

How long will this last? Will I need touch ups in the future? This is a “semi-permanent” cosmetic procedure. It will fade over time, to varying degrees. Touch ups are recommended every 12-24 months in order to keep the brows looking fresh. The touch up range varies widely as everyone holds color differently. Please access the booking site to see the current cost for touch up appointments.
